Light a fire with no matches
Step 1
Create a safe fire-bed and have dirt or water available to extinguish fire.
Step 4
Make a pile of fatwood ‘fluff’ by gathering it together.
Step 2
Gather tinder and fuel to add to your flame, after you strike the ferro rod and the fatwood ignites.
Step 5
Direct the sparks to the top of the pile of fluffed fat wood. Add tinder and fuel.
Step 3
Fluff the fat wood by scraping the fatwood stick with the edge of your striker or the back of a hunting knife.
Step 6
Extinguish by smothering with dirt or water until there is no smoke and it is cold to touch.
We believe in bushcraft education.

Wildfire that Didn't Begin
Reducing Human Caused Wildfire
As we practiced our firecraft and developed our first QUICK-FIRE prototypes in 2023, the West Kelowna wildfire began and it was caused by a human.
As founders of QUICK-FIRE, both Darryl and I (Clayton), live, work, play and enjoy bushcraft in the Okanagan. At our first Outdoor & Adventure Trade Show in Vancouver, we were asked, ‘How did you justify teaching people ‘how to light a fire with no matches’ as everything you stand for, burned to the ground in West Kelowna?’. The answer we said, is that we fight fire with fire. We know that when our students of bushcraft learn how to light a fire with no matches, they appreciate and understand their surroundings more than the human who carelessly allows a spark to enter our forest and spread. It is our mission to Use QUICK-FIRE to reduce human caused wildfire. Join us, teach someone today how to respect fire.
