This compact and robust kit features a premium ferrocerium rod (often referred to as a “ferro rod” or “flint”) and a precisely engineered striker. These two crucial components are designed to conveniently clip together, ensuring they are always readily accessible when you need them most.

The core of our daily demonstration revolves around the simple yet powerful act of striking the ferro rod with the metal striker. This action produces a shower of intensely hot molten metal sparks, which, when directed onto properly prepared tinder, will reliably ignite a flame. To guarantee consistent and effective tinder, QUICK-FIRE is proud to offer fatwood (also known as fire starters or fire sticks). We sustainably harvest this naturally resinous wood from old pine stumps right here in the pristine forests of British Columbia, Canada. This commitment to local sourcing and environmental responsibility is a cornerstone of the QUICK-FIRE mission.

For the duration of this podcast series, we will be rigorously testing the limits of a single QUICK-FIRE SURVIVE kit. Each day, Clayton or Darryl will utilize the same ferro rod and a single stick of QUICK-FIRE fatwood to ignite a fire. Our goal is to meticulously track just how many successful fires one ferro rod can produce and how many individual fires can be started with a single QUICK-FIRE fatwood stick.
