Who lit the first match?
It doesn’t matter. Long before gun powder was used in a book of matches, some smart human struck a light with flint. Shortly after, (short in the big picture of time) a bored old man (probably like, 27yrs old) got angry, threw a rock and sparks flew. His day turned around at that point when, a light-bulb idea burst into his mind… or whatever analogy they used 10, 000 years ago before idea’s were light-bulbs, and that smart guy found a way to direct sparks to tinder!
The rest is history! We now have the ferrocerium rod, other wise known as, the ferro rod!
To start a fire with no matches, first prepare your tinder. Next, get your fatwood stick that comes with the Complete Fatwood Fire Striker Kit and fluff the fatwood. Finally, strike the ferro rod on the QUICK-FIRE Striker and when it ignites, begin to add the larger pieces of tinder carefully until the fire begins to crackle. Enjoy.
When we show people how to fluff fatwood from a fatwood stick that is coupled with the QUICK-FIRE Striker to create the Complete Fatwood Fire Kit, and how the fatwood lights up when the sparks from the ferro rod ignite the pile of fatwood, they find it hard to believe that the stick is all natural. We have compiled a video from the very beginning of the fatwood harvesting process to help folks understand the complete picture.
