Campfire Starters Episode 8

Firestarter Stick

Ferrocerium Rod Strikes

No Match Campfires

Firecraft: The practice of starting camping fires for survival with sustainable fire-starting methods. The presupposition here is you will have a place prepared for your fire, you’ll have kindling, tinder and larger material for the fire, and finally, a means to extinguish the fire.

In these episodes, because we are counting each ignition as a ‘ campfire start’ there is the presumption that you’ve prepared a location for the fire, tinder, larger fuel for the fire, and a means to extinguish the fire. What are my means? Well, snow is actually surrounding me, and I have a lot of means to put out the fire, Including rocks, dirt and snow.

Episode number eight.

How many fires will a QUICK-FIRE Fatwood Stick light? How many strikes will the QUICK-FIRE Ferro Rod provide?

A lot of people want to get a big fat Ferro Rod for their wilderness adventures.

While the larger ferro rods are fun because they shower so much molten metal, I just don’t see the need. If this little Ferro Rod can is light and easy to pack and does the job.

OK, in the previous episode we were at 26 strikes.

27, 28, 29.

30 31. 33.

QUICK-FIRE, not as quick as the last one, but still quick, as advertised! (The animated counter above has the correct count of ferro rod strikes after a video review)

Campfire Starters Episode 7

Firestarter Stick

Ferrocerium Rod Strikes

No Match Campfires

Firecraft. The practice of starting fires for camping or survival with sustainable fire-starting methods.

Episode number seven. Using the same  QUICK-FIRE Ferro, Rod and fatwood right from the very beginning.

I’m gonna fluff the fat wood.

Start. Seventh fire.

Sometimes I smooth out the stick. It gets a little rough.

We had 25, we’re counting them every time.

26.

QUICK-FIRE as advertised.
