Episode five. We’re doing a deep dive into QUICK-FIRE Fatwood and QUICK-FIRE Ferrocerium Rod to see how many strikes the ferro rod has and how many campfires can be started with one fatwood stick. Make sure your knife that you’re using, has a flat Edge. You can also use the striker to fluff the fatwood. But if you use a striker, you got to clean it off after before striking or at least use the other side of the striker metal.
Fatwood sticks are hewn from pine stumps from old stumps.and in parts of the forest that have been logged decades previously so no trees were harmed.. They are manufactured in Peachland British Columbia.

Using fatwood in the forest is a sustainable method of starting a campfire.

You can see this is part of a fatwood stick. It is original and was broken off from an old stump. And then we the fatwood down to a smaller size harvest our fatwood sticks and provide them on the website.

So, we had 17 strikes previously on the striker, and this is fire number five.

Using QUICK-FIRE fatwood we’re going to find out how many fires a stick of fatwood ignites.

The ferrocerium rod that we put into the QUICK-FIRE survival kit is the same Ferrocerium Rod that we use in the lightweight, compact QUICK-FIRE Striker.

You can also use the striker component to scrape the fat wood or fluff, the fat wood. I like to use my knife, if I have it. If I use my knife, I don’t have to clean the fatwood from the striker.

This quick fire fat wood is harvested from Pine stumps in British Columbia in parts of the forest that were logged decades previously.
I am counting each ignition of fatwood as 1 fire started. I am presupposing that for every ignition of fatwood, there would be tinder other larger fuel available to keep the fire burning.
